  • A lesson in painted woodwork at the Artisan School or Dar Sanaa, founded 1919 under the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco, which teaches the traditional art and craft skills of woodwork, zellige, sculpted plaster, leatherwork, etc, in Tetouan on the slopes of Jbel Dersa in the Rif Mountains of Northern Morocco. Tetouan was of particular importance in the Islamic period from the 8th century, when it served as the main point of contact between Morocco and Andalusia.   • General view of the Qutlugh Murad Inaq Madrasah, 1804-12, Khiva, Uzbekistan, pictured on July 7, 2010, in the morning. The Qutlugh Murad Inaq Madrasah is the first completely two-storey masrasah in Khiva comprising 81 hujras. The building is composed along the longitudinal axis with a four-ayvan yard and connected with residential hudjras for students and teachers. Qutlugh Murad Inaq madrasah is the only monument in Khiva where non-glazed relief-stamped terracotta was used. Corner guldasta of the main facade are decorated with terracotta tiles with non-recurring pattern. Khiva, ancient and remote, is the most intact Silk Road city. In the chancel is the Mannerist altarpiece, designed by Bernardo Coelho in 1605 and made by sculptor Simon Mota, with paintings by Simon Rodrigues and Domingos Vieira Serrao. The chapel was renovated in the 17th and 18th centuries, with Manuel Ramos making the pulpit in 1684, ceiling painted by Francisco F de Araujo, tiled floor added 1613, Baroque organ with 2,000 pipes built 1733 by Fray Manuel de Sao Bento, and Gabriel Ferreira da Cunha painting chinoiserie elements in 1737. The University of Coimbra was first founded in 1290 and moved to Coimbra in 1308 and to the royal palace in 1537. The building is listed as a historic monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
