  • Homo erectus hunting wolves with a spear, model in the Musee de Tautavel - Centre Europeen de Prehistoire, Tautavel, Pyrenees-Orientales, Catalogne du Nord, France. The museum houses the Centre Europeen de Recherches Prehistoriques (CERP), who work on the excavations at the Caune de l'Arago or La grotte de Tautavel, or Arago Cave, in a limestone cliff in the Gorges du Gouleyrous in the Corbieres Massif, which contains the remains of the Tautavel Man, a subspecies of Homo Erectus, 450,000 years old, along with further evidence of stone age activity. Hadrian's Wall was built 73 miles across Britannia, now England, 122-128 AD, under the reign of Emperor Hadrian, ruled 117-138, to mark the Northern extent of the Roman Empire and guard against barbarian attacks from the Picts to the North.   • Statue of Pallas Athena holding a spear, in a niche inside the Brandenburg Gate or Brandenburger Tor, 18th century, a neoclassical triumphal arch marking one of the old city gates of Berlin, at the end of Unter den Linden, Berlin, Germany. The gate was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Carl Gotthard Langhans 1788-91. It stood inaccessible next to the Berlin Wall during Germany's Partition and was restored 2000-02 by the Stiftung Denkmalschutz Berlin. The chapel was built in catalan Gothic style in 1302, with a rectangular nave, polygonal apse and polychrome wooden coffered ceiling. The chapel was built by Bertran Riquer, Jaume del Rei and Pere d'Olivera for King James II of Aragon and his wife Blanca of Naples. The palace complex includes the Salo del Tinell built 1359–62, the Palatine Chapel of St Agatha built 1302 and the Palau del Lloctinent built 1549.   • Character study of man in Eastern dress with shield and spear wearing turban, from a sketchbook featuring characters, costumes and storyboards for Le Feu Ecarlate or the Scarlet Fire, Series 35 of the Thorgal comic book series, to be published November 2016, by Grzegorz Rosinski, 1941-, Polish comic book artist. Rosinski was born in Stalowa Wola, Poland, and now lives in Switzerland, and is the author and designer of many Polish comic book series. He created Thorgal with Belgian writer Jean Van Hamme. The series was first published in Tintin in 1977 and has been published by Le Lombard since 1980. The stories cover Norse mythology, Atlantean fantasy, science fiction, horror and adventure genres. Le Feu Ecarlate takes place in Bag Dadh, a city under siege by the Magnus force, where Thorgal must find Aniel and save him from the Red Wizards who made him the reincarnation of their Grand Master Kahaniel. The altarpiece was originally in the Transfiguration Chapel but is now in the Cathedral Museum. The cathedral has 3 naves with chapels between the buttresses and an ambulatory with radial chapels.   • Judas Iscariot the apostle, painted in a trompe l'oeil niche reading a book and holding a spear, attributed to Pierre Bourguignon Coustain, 15th century, on the wall of the chapel of the Chateau de Chateauneuf, or Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, a 12th and 15th century castle, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France. The rectangular chapel has a wooden barrel vaulted ceiling and walls painted with black, red and gold stripes, a Gothic window with 3 lancets and a copy of the tomb of Philippe Pot, 1428-93, the original being in the Musee du Louvre. Originally built in 1132 by Jean de Chaudenay, the castle was modified from a medieval fortress to a residence from 1457 under Philippe le Bon, Duc de Bourgogne, or Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, who gave the castle to his advisor Philippe Pot. The original castle complex was built in 723-743 by Walid Ibn Yazid, the future Umayyad Caliph Walid II. It was a fortress with military garrison and residence of the Umayyad Caliphs. Hadrian's Wall was built 73 miles across Britannia, now England, 122-128 AD, under the reign of Emperor Hadrian, ruled 117-138, to mark the Northern extent of the Roman Empire and guard against barbarian attacks from the Picts to the North.   • Statue of the goddess Minerva, wearing a helmet and holding a spear, from the inside of the Brandenburg Gate or Brandenburger Tor, 18th century, a neoclassical triumphal arch marking one of the old city gates of Berlin, at the end of Unter den Linden, Berlin, Germany. The gate was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Carl Gotthard Langhans 1788-91. It stood inaccessible next to the Berlin Wall during Germany's Partition and was restored 2000-02 by the Stiftung Denkmalschutz Berlin.   • Seated figure holding a spear from the Roman mosaic of the Four Seasons, in the dining room of the House of Dionysos, 3rd century AD, Volubilis, Northern Morocco. Volubilis was founded in the 3rd century BC by the Phoenicians and was a Roman settlement from the 1st century AD. Volubilis was a thriving Roman olive growing town until 280 AD and was settled until the 11th century. The buildings were largely destroyed by an earthquake in the 18th century and have since been excavated and partly restored. Volubilis was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The relief appears to depict a kneeling monk receiving a blessing, with others inside a building, possibly a monastery, one holding a spear and one blowing a horn. The Romanesque cloister at Elne was built 12th - 14th centuries at the Cathedral of Sainte-Eulalie-et-Sainte-Julie which was consecrated in 1069. Rosinski was born in Stalowa Wola, Poland, and now lives in Switzerland, and is the author and designer of many Polish comic book series. He created Thorgal with Belgian writer Jean Van Hamme. The series was first published in Tintin in 1977 and has been published by Le Lombard since 1980. The stories cover Norse mythology, Atlantean fantasy, science fiction, horror and adventure genres. Le Feu Ecarlate takes place in Bag Dadh, a city under siege by the Magnus force, where Thorgal must find Aniel and save him from the Red Wizards who made him the reincarnation of their Grand Master Kahaniel.
