  • Cement floor tiles made by MiraColour using interlacing patterns reminiscent of the Neo-Romanesque period of the 19th century, in the Bell tower room themed 'Le Merveilleux' or The Supernatural, first floor, in Le Tresor de la Cathedral d'Angouleme, in Angouleme Cathedral, or the Cathedrale Saint-Pierre d'Angouleme, Angouleme, Charente, France. The 12th century Romanesque cathedral was largely reworked by Paul Abadie in 1852-75. In 2008, Jean-Michel Othoniel was commissioned by DRAC Aquitaine - Limousin - Poitou-Charentes to display the Treasure of the Cathedral in some of its rooms, which opened to the public on 30th September 2016.   • Tiled chequerboard floor, aerial view, in the Salle Capitulaire or Chapter House at Fontevraud Abbey, Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, Loire Valley, Maine-et-Loire, France. Among the tile patterns are the initials RB of Renee de Bourbon, 1494-1539, abbess of Fontevraud, and a crowned winged 'L', symbol of Louise de Bourbon, Abbess of Fontevraud 1534-75, and the Bourbon-Vendome family. The Chapter House was built in the 16th century and its walls were painted in 1563 with frescoes of scenes from Christ's Passion by the Anjou artist Thomas Pot. The abbey itself was founded in 1100 by Robert of Arbrissel, who created the Order of Fontevraud. It was a double monastery for monks and nuns, run by an abbess.   • First floor room of the Tour Jeanne d'Arc with original window seats designed to make the most of the light, Rouen, Normandy, France. The Joan of Arc Tower was the donjon or keep and only remaining part of the Chateau de Rouen, built 1204 by Philippe Auguste or King Philip II of France. Joan of Arc was tried and tortured in this tower. It is a 3-storey building with one room per floor and a pointed roof which was rebuilt in the 19th century. The Keep is 50m high, built 1337-73, the highest fortified medieval building in Europe. It has a square plan 16x16m with a square room on each floor with walls 3m thick, with a turret on each corner.   • The Vienna bedroom on the first floor of the square keep, 12th - 13th century, in the Chateau de Chateauneuf, or Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, a 12th and 15th century castle, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France. The terracotta floor tiles date to the 15th century, and the wooden panelled and painted alcove with wardrobe and washroom were installed by Charles I in the late 17th century. This room was destroyed by fire in 1902, the coffered ceiling was restored in 2001, and the parquet floor and painted panelling from 2010. Also displayed is furniture from the Mobilier National.   • Bathing and toilet area of an apartment on the first floor of the Grand Logis or main house, 15th century, in the Chateau de Chateauneuf, or Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, a 12th and 15th century castle, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France. This private lord's lodgings has limewashed walls covered with large tapestries and a glazed tiled floor, with wooden partitions dividing the space into a bedroom with toilets, a wardrobe to store clothes, and a great room with large fireplace and 2 mullioned windows. Originally built in 1132 by Jean de Chaudenay, the castle was modified from a medieval fortress to a residence from 1457 under Philippe le Bon, Duc de Bourgogne, or Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, who gave the castle to his advisor Philippe Pot.   • Detail of a Byzantine floor mosaic depicting a figure representing the seasonal harvest with a horn of plenty and vine leaves, 587 AD, from the Church of Bishop Sergius, built 586 AD in the time of Bishop Sergius of Madaba, Umm ar-Rasas, Amman, Jordan. This is the only human figure to remain in the mosaic cycle as it was protected by the stone base of a later pulpit, the others having been destroyed by Christian iconoclasts. The church was built as a basilica with an apse and elevated presbytery and forms part of an ecclesiastical complex of 4 churches. Umm ar-Rasas is a rectangular walled city which grew from a Roman military camp in the Jordanian desert. Its remains date from the Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad periods (3rd - 9th centuries), including 16 churches with mosaic floors.   • Cabinets of censers and of monstrances, with blue and gold glass beads made with Murano glassmaker Salviati, in the Bell tower room themed 'Le Merveilleux' or The Supernatural, first floor, in Le Tresor de la Cathedral d'Angouleme, in Angouleme Cathedral, or the Cathedrale Saint-Pierre d'Angouleme, Angouleme, Charente, France. The 12th century Romanesque cathedral was largely reworked by Paul Abadie in 1852-75. In 2008, Jean-Michel Othoniel was commissioned by DRAC Aquitaine - Limousin - Poitou-Charentes to display the Treasure of the Cathedral in some of its rooms, which opened to the public on 30th September 2016. The cement floor tiles made by MiraColour and the hand printed wallpaper by Atelier d’Offard, both use interlacing patterns reminiscent of the Neo-Romanesque period of the 19th century.   • Double-height living room with furniture by Josep Prat, in Pavilion no. 6 'dels distingits' of the Institut Pere Mata, a psychiatric hospital built 1897-1912 in Modernist style by Lluis Domenech i Montaner, 1850-1923, Catalan Modernist architect, in Reus, Catalonia, Spain. To the first floor is a balcony with balustrade by Josep Prat and decorative ceiling, while the ground floor is tiled, with wooden furniture and an art nouveau feel. Pavilion no. 6 was used to house wealthy patients in great comfort and modernity, and was in use until 1986. It is now open to the public as part of Reus' Modernist Route and run by the town of Reus, whereas the rest of the building remains a hospital.   • Living room of the Casa Gasull, built 1910-12 and designed by Lluis Domenech i Montaner, in a mixture of Modernist and Noucentist styles, Calle de Sant Joan, Reus, Catalonia, Spain. The house was commissioned by Pere Roig Gasull, an olive oil merchant, as the headquarters of his business and home to his 2 children. The basement is a warehouse space used for storing oil and the ground floor is for industrial and commercial use. This room has a tiled floor and painted decorative frieze around the ceiling. The architect's son, Pere Domenech Roura, also worked on the building. The building is listed as a Cultural asset of local interest. Picture by Manuel Cohen
