The 18th century Baroque style chapel was designed by architect Simon Garvillan Tome. Above the altar is a large painting of San Jeronimo, attributed to Simon Pitti. Salamanca, an important Spanish University city, is known as La Ciudad Dorada ("The golden city") because of the unique golden colour of its Renaissance sandstone buildings.
