Saint, with second overlapping fresco layer and graffiti damage, fresco, detail, in Church 1 at Karabas Church, or Karabas Kilise, a monastery complex with a domed or Kubbeli church (a rare cave church with external dome), built early 10th century, Byzantine, in the Soganli valley, Yesilhisar, Kayseri, Cappadocia, Central Anatolia, Turkey. The frescoes have been repainted over the centuries, added to, damaged and defaced, and stained with soot from candles.
