Remains from a funeral pyre including bone fragments, metal, jewellery and ceramic urn, early 10th century, from Klinta, Kopingsvik, Oland, in the Swedish History Museum, a history and archaeology museum founded 1866, in Stockholm, Sweden. The pyre was in a ship, containing a woman and a man wrapped in bearskins, with sacrificed animals and objects. The woman wore 3 gilded brooches, almost 200 beads of glass, carnelian and rock crystal, a pendant and 2 copper plates inscribed with runes. Picture by Manuel Cohen
