Tents in the Saracen encampment, fresco, late 12th century, in the Templar Chapel at the Commanderie de Cressac or Commanderie du Dognon, at Le Temple, in Cressac-Saint-Genis, Charente, France. The chapel was built 1150-60 by the Templars on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route and was originally part of a commandery, providing funds to support the Knights Hospitallers in the crusades in the Holy Land.
