Woman with the Green Beaker, reconstruction, in the Birka Museum at the site of Birka Viking village, founded c. 750 and abandoned c. 975, on Bjorko island in Lake Malaren, Sweden. The 9th century woman's grave contained preserved textile fragments of a shift dress in helsark style, oval brooches made in Birka, a silver pin, shears, and a knife. Birka was a Viking trading post housing up to 1,000 people and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
