Fountain of Pollio, South of the State Agora, built 97 AD by the rich Ephesian C S Pollio and his family, Ephesus, Izmir, Turkey. The fountain provided a free water source for the people of Ephesus and has a huge arch which would have been surrounded by statues. Ephesus was an ancient Greek city founded in the 10th century BC, and later a major Roman city, on the Ionian coast near present day Selcuk. Picture by Manuel Cohen
