Great temple, 1st century BC, Petra, Ma'an, Jordan. The temple, built on the southern side of the Colonnaded street, was destroyed by an earthquake shortly after it was built. Later, a small theatre in the main building, and a large terrace below with a triple colonnade on each side, were added. Petra was the capital and royal city of the Nabateans, Arabic desert nomads.
