Stone circle at Stonehenge, 3000-2000 BC, Wiltshire, England. The archaeological site consists of the stone circle, earthworks and hundreds of burial mounds dating to the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is managed by English Heritage. The site is linked to Arthurian Legend, as Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote in his History of the Kings of Britain in the 12th century, that the stone circle was built by the wizard Merlin.
