Terracotta head, Punic era, 6th - 5th century BC, from Punta del Nao, in the Museo de Cadiz, Cadiz, Andalusia, Southern Spain. This head of a Phoenician man was thrown into the sea as an offering, and has an intricately carved hairstyle, possibly a wig, and a long beard. Cadiz is one of the oldest cities in Europe, founded by the Phoenicians in 1100 BC, and later became a Carthaginian then a Roman city, and Spain's constitution was signed here in 1812.
