Precinct of Amun-Re at the Karnak Temple Complex, Karnak, Thebes, Luxor, Egypt, seen from the Sacred Lake. The lake was made under Tuthmosis III, 15th century BC, and was used for ritual washing and navigation by the priests. The site was developed c. 2055 BC - 100 AD, from the Middle Kingdom to the Ptolemaic Kingdom and most of the buildings date to the New Kingdom, dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut and Khonsu.
