Western ramparts of Ambrussum, aerial view, in Languedoc-Roussillon, France. Ambrussum was a Celtic Iron Age settlement founded 4th century BC, which grew under the Romans from the 2nd century BC. The ramparts surrounding the town, excavated in 1835, were built in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC and restored in the 2nd century BC. The site is listed as a historic monument.
