Tomb of bishop Jean-Baptiste Bouvier, 1783-1854, with sculpture of the visit to his deathbed by Pope Pius IX (Bouvier was the last of the Gallic bishops to hold out against the hegemony of Rome), in the Cathedrale Saint-Julien du Mans or Cathedral of St Julian of Le Mans, Le Mans, Sarthe, Loire, France. The cathedral was built from the 6th to the 14th centuries, with both Romanesque and High Gothic elements.
