Arena, built 20th century by the Belgian Solvay company for their workers from Gard to enjoy bull fighting, in Salin-de-Giraud, Bouches-du-Rhone, France. Pechiney and Solvay needed workers for their salt extraction businesses and housed them in purpose-built workers' villages, with hierarchical accommodation and amenity buildings. A bullfighting club, Prouvenco Aficioun, was started here and the arena remains central to the social life of the village. Picture by Manuel Cohen
