Corner tower with artillery platform and dry moat at the Forteresse de Salses, a catalan fortress built 1497-1504 and designed by Francisco Ramiro Lopez and restored by Vauban from 1691, Salses-le Chateau, Pyrenees-Orientales, Catalogne du Nord, France. The castle was built under Ferdinand II of Aragon to protect the border between the Principality of Catalonia and France. It is part-buried and has 7 levels with 10m thick walls.
