Statues, Tour de Beurre, Rouen Cathedral, Normandy, France

Statues and gargoyles on the Tour de Beurre or Butter Tower, built 1485-1506, at Rouen Cathedral or the Cathedrale de Notre Dame de Rouen, built 12th century in Gothic style, with work continuing through the 13th and 14th centuries, Rouen, Normandy, France. The tower is named for its funding by donations from wealthy citizens in return for the privilege of eating butter during Lent. It is of square plan on 4 levels with an octagonal upper section.
