Cyril Calvet, assistant heritage conservator, holding an animal skull in the Collection Room, storing fragments excavated at the Caune de l'Arago or La grotte de Tautavel, at the Centre Europeen de Recherches Prehistoriques (CERP) at the Musee de Tautavel - Centre Europeen de Prehistoire, Tautavel, Pyrenees-Orientales, Catalogne du Nord, France. The Arago Cave, in a limestone cliff in the Gorges du Gouleyrous in the Corbieres Massif, contains the remains of the Tautavel Man, a subspecies of Homo Erectus, 450,000 years old, along with further evidence of stone age activity.
