Life of St Julian the Hospitaller stained glass window, Chartres cathedral, France

After having killed his parents in error, Julian is calmly wiping the bloody blade of his sword when his wife appears and he learns of his mistake. Section of Julian meeting his wife, 1215-25, from the Life of St Julian the Hospitaller window in the chapel of St Julian in the ambulatory of Chartres Cathedral, Eure-et-Loir, France. Chartres cathedral was built 1194-1250 and is a fine example of Gothic architecture. Most of its windows date from 1205-40 although a few earlier 12th century examples are also intact.
