The building was extended and the central tower added in 1924, by William Sutherland Maxwell. The building is now a hotel, the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, and is listed as a National Historic Site of Canada. The Historic District of Old Quebec is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
