Courtyard of the Hospital de Santiago (Hospital of Santiago), designed by Andres de Vandelvira in 1562 in Spanish Renaissance style, and completed in 1575, in Ubeda, Jaen, Andalusia, Spain. The building was commissioned by Don Diego de los Cobos, bishop of Jaen, as a hospital for the poor. It has a large central courtyard with a 2 storey arcade and marble columns, with 2 towers and ceramic roof tiles. The hospital is listed as a historic monument and the Renaissance buildings of Ubeda and Baeza are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
