Gallo-Roman crayeres or chalk wine cellars, 4th century AD, with bottles of Taittinger champagne, at the Chateau de la Marquetterie, Maison Taittinger, Pierry, Epernay, near Reims, Marne, Grand Est, France. The cellars were originally chalk quarries 18m underground, and became cellars for Saint-Nicaise abbey before being used by champagne houses for wine storage.
