Citadelle de Blaye and Gironde Estuary, Aquitaine, France

Citadelle de Blaye or Blaye Citadel, built as a military fortress in 1685-89 by the military architect Francois Ferry, Blaye, Aquitaine, France. The citadel is one of 12 sites on the Vauban network and overlooks the Gironde Estuary. It is listed as a historic monument and is part of the Fortifications of Vauban UNESCO World Heritage Site.
