Apostles, Sermon on the Mount by Fra Angelico, Museo di San Marco, Florence, Italy

Seated apostle, and behind, Judas with a black halo, detail from The Sermon on the Mount, Renaissance fresco by Fra Angelico, born Guido di Pietro, c. 1395-1455, and followers, painted 1438-46 on the wall of Cell 32 in the North wing of the Dominican Convent of St Mark, now the Museo di San Marco, Florence, Tuscany, Italy. Fra Angelico painted over 40 frescoes on the walls of the convent. Jesus is depicted seated amongst the 12 apostles, preaching a sermon on how to live in righteousness, including his interpretation of the Ten Commandments and other elements from the Old Testament.
