Lowering of the shrine containing the bones of Marie Salome and Marie Jacobe from the upper chapel, at the pilgrimage of gypsies at the Fete des Gitans, 24-26 May 2023, in the Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer, a Romanesque fortified church begun 9th century and rebuilt in Gothic style 1165-70, in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, Bouches-du-Rhone, Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur, France. The patron saints of Romany gypsies (Sara la Noire, St Marie Jacobe and St Marie Salome) are venerated here. The church is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
