Sundial, 1661, carved in the sandstone of the Southern wall of Melrose Abbey, or St Mary's Abbey, a Cistercian abbey founded 1136 under King David I of Scotland, in Melrose, Roxburghshire, Borders, Scotland. The abbey was built 1136-96 in Gothic style and was the first Cistercian abbey in Scotland. The abbey is listed as a scheduled monument and is run by Historic Environment Scotland.
