Galerie Vernet in the Musee Calvet, founded by Esprit Calvet, housed in the Hotel de Villeneuve-Martignan, an 18th century mansion, in Avignon, Provence, France. On the right is the Death of Joseph Bara, unfinished Neoclassical oil painting on canvas, 1794, by Jacques-Louis David, 1748-1825. Bara was a 13 year old drummer boy in the Republican army in the Vendee when he was killed in 1793, making him a martyr of the French Revolution. The building houses the fine arts collections of the museum, and is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
