Piazza San Pietro (St. Peter's Square) and San Pietro in Vaticano (St Peter's Basilica), 16th - 17th century, Vatican City, Rome, Italy. The square was designed by Bernini, 1656 - 1667, and is outlined by a monumental colonnade. The current building of St Peter's Basilica began under Pope Julius II in 1506 and was completed in 1615 under Pope Paul V.
