St Barbara Chapel, a cruciform chapel on the south side of Elmali Church, cut into the soft volcanic tuff, late 11th century, Byzantine, in Goreme Open Air Museum, Nevsehir province, Cappadocia, Central Anatolia, Turkey. On the left are north wall frescoes of St George riding a horse and above, Satan, a cross and a rooster. On the right is the east wall, which houses 3 apses. This area forms part of the Goreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
